Natural Cure for Sore Throat – Effective Home Remedies Tip

By Eric A. Almodiel

A sore throat can be one of the most annoying things that can happen to you. It is not fatal, nor is it very dangerous, but it is something that you can’t just shrug your shoulders and go, “It’ll be gone in a few days.” You have to find a way to cure it.

Sore throats are generally caused by viral infections, which are very contagious and communicable. Contrary to popular belief, viruses cannot be killed by antibiotics; bacteria can be, but not viruses. Most sore throats are symptoms that show up whenever a person has flu or running nose (or colds), with the “normal” aches and pains that go with them. Extreme sore throat may develop canker sores and even blisters; and these are very painful to say the least.

When the sore throat reaches 5 to 7 days, and it is not a result of a more dangerous disease, the individual should look for medical treatment as soon as possible.

Here are a few signs that are definitely red flags for you to seek immediate medical attention:
* difficulty swallowing even small items
* difficulty in breathing
* even opening the mouth can be painful
* fever over 101 degrees F
* some rashes
* blood is found in the saliva
* lumps may be found in neck
* prolonged hoarseness of voice (more than a week)

Natural Remedies for Sore Throat

The great news is that you need not suffer or prolong the pain. There are many natural remedies for sore throat which can be found even just inside our own homes. These natural remedies have been proven to immediately relieve pain and infection and offer temporary relief (until the real issue is found).

Oregon Grape Fruit – A herbal immune system enhancer in the line of echinacea and golden seal. This can be very effective if the sore throat is caused by either a cold or a flu.

Garlic – A much underappreciated all-purpose medicine. Adding raw garlic to your salad and other favorite dishes will go a long way in keeping away bacteria and viruses (and not just for colds and flu, either).

Mucilaginous Herbs – Sounds a lot more intimidating that it really is. Examples of these can be marshmallows and slippery elm. Blackberry, raspberry, and other of the like are also effective natural remedies for sore throat.

Cayenne Pepper – Another effective herb that’s so easy to make. Add water and then gargle. That’s it.

Herbal Throat Lozenges – I’ll bet you’re surprised to hear that they exist, herbal lozenges. Here’s how you make them:

1) Prepare 3 tablespoons powdered licorice, 3 tablespoons marshmallow or slippery elm, 3 tablespoons red raspberry leaves, 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper, 10 drops scented geranium, sage, or rosemary, essential oil, honey and cornstarch.
2) Mix them all up together (with fingers or fork is up to you) with a small amount of honey and essential oil until you get a rich texture.
3) Roll them into tiny balls and flatten a little bit (pretty much the same size as regular lozenges).
4) Dry for 12 hours and then keep in an airtight container.

There are numerous other natural cure for sore throat that can be found if you research them. Whatever natural remedy you use, you can rest assured that they are very helpful in not just alleviating the pain, but getting in there and healing the cause, too; no matter what the cause of the sore throat may be.
